After our latest matches, Skibbereen Community School 2nd year boys are top of Pool B, while the 1st year team lie second in their pool.
Both teams recorded comfortable victories against Christian Brothers before the midterm, 1st years by a margin of 51 to 29 and the 2nd years 43 to 17.
On Monday, both teams faced tough matches against Crosshaven in top of the table clashes.
The 1st year game was a rip roaring high tempo affair and not for the faint hearted. We lost by a score of 42 to 37 but are determined to learn valuable lessons from this defeat for the upcoming knockout phases
In a repeat of last year's county final, where it took two periods of extra time to find a winner, the 2nd years faced up to a much anticipated contest. On this occasion, we recorded our best result coming away winners by a 17 point margin with man of the match Mark FitzGerald razor sharp from the 3 point line.
Onwards and upwards boys.

5th year Agricultural Science students were entertained by an educational talk by a young Manchester farmer Henry Dale from Dale Farm.
His talk stemmed from their 9000 acre dairy and cereal farms based in Manchester and South Scotland, and he highlighted the advantages Irish farming has on a global setting.
The students were very appreciative and respected this young farmer sharing his experiences and knowledge.
A special thank you to Mr. William Kingston and Mr. PJ Fitzgerald for organising this event with Ms. O’Brien and Mr. Shanahan's classes.
Today we had a visit from Bishop Buckley.
He met with the leaving cert class groups and offered them a blessing and prayer card for their upcoming leaving certificate exams.
Many thanks to Bishop Buckley for spending time with the staff and students in SCS.
Congratulations to our 1st year girls basketball team who had a superb win over Coláiste Choilm today.
Terrific performances all round.

Hard luck to our 2nd year girls basketball team who were narrowly defeated by Coláiste Choilm today. The final score was 37-31.
The TYs had a great trip to London.
They began day one with a guided tour of London taking in Buckingham Palace, Downing Street, Big Ben, The London Eye to name just a few.
Afterwards they headed to “The Lion King” at the West End.
Day two had trips to the Science Museum and National Army Museum before doing a river Thames tour. They wrapped up the day with some bowling.
Day three and their final day started out with some shopping in Europe’s biggest shopping centre Westfield, before heading to Craven Cottage to take in a premier league game between Fulham and Bournemouth. A cracking 3-1 home win insured a great atmosphere.
The last leg of their tour took them through Heathrow Airport where they bumped into Irish international and Luton Town player Chiedozie Ogbene who kindly jumped in for a photo with some of the students.
A great trip for all the students and teachers leading into the mid-term break.
The First years in SCS were extra busy last week, cooking & decorating pancakes.
They were very enthusiastic cooking/decorating their pancakes and thoroughly enjoyed sampling them afterwards.
The Home Economics department are very proud of their efforts. Well done 1st years.
Happy midterm and we hope you have a well deserved break!
Well done to our 1st & 2nd year boys basketball teams on beating Neptune today.
