Attendance

Regular attendance at school is of the utmost importance as absenteeism can have a detrimental effect on your child’s education and results.  School attendance is governed by the National Welfare Board with poor attendance being reported to them.

Leaving school early is also a form of absenteeism as it leads to the missing of certain subjects and classes and should only occur in emergency situations.

In Skibbereen Community School students will only be permitted to leave school during the school day if they are collected by a parent/guardian or other nominated responsible adult. In exceptional circumstances 6th year students will be allowed to leave once the need for such a departure has been confirmed by a parent/guardian.

Bus Transport / Student Parking

All students will be driven directly onto the school grounds each morning and be collected from the school grounds each evening.

While we understand that some senior students may wish to drive to school themselves it should be noted that there is no student parking on site. Parents/Guardians should take safe car parking into consideration before permitting their son/daughter to drive to school.
