A huge congratulations to past student Caoimhe Flannery, LC Class of 2026, who has been awarded a €24,000 Naughton Foundation Scholarship in recognition of her outstanding achievement in STEM subjects. It was presented on the 17th of October, in Trinity College’s Business School, Dublin, by founding patron Carmel Naughton and Jennifer Carroll MacNeill TD, Minister for Health. Also accompanying Caoimhe at the awards ceremony were her delighted parents Pat and Emer, sister Doireann and SCS Deputy Principal, Mary Belton.
The Naughton Scholarship is a prestigious undergraduate scholarship programme in Ireland designed to reward, encourage and promote exceptional students who wish to study in the field of STEM - science, technology, engineering and mathematics. This is the first time a student from Skibbereen Community School has been awarded this distinguished scholarship and in recognition, includes a school prize of €1,000 to support laboratory and science facility upgrades and promote the continued development of STEM subjects.
Caoimhe is fully embracing third level and has accepted a place to study Pharmacy in University College Galway. We are all so proud of her in SCS and wish her every success for her future.
