An IRFU Coaching Course has been organised for Transition Year Students in October.
Hi All,
Hope you all had a great summer. As the new school year is now up and running I am just touching base with you all to see if your school still has an interest in running a Transition Year Coaching Course this school year. Many of you made enquiries at the end of the last school term.
Here is a small bit of information on the Transition Year Coaching Course-
The IRFU Coaching course is made up of a number of both practical and theory modules. The course is based on non contact rugby and no experience in the game is needed. What the students learn in this course could be adapted to any sports and activities not just rugby.
The Course will cost €20 per student with a minimum of 15 students taking part and a maximum of 30/35 (we can discuss numbers if there is any issues).
We will get an email address from each student and they will all be set up on the IRFU Gainline account.
Modules will cover the following-
Fundamental movement skills and how to incorporate the movements into games.
The Role of the Coach- Best practice.
Session Planning.
How to run a session.
Games and content that can be incorporated into the sessions.
1 Online Module- On concussion (short module that students can do in their free time).
Plan and Run a Blitz. We would look to run a 1st Year Blitz in the school were the Students would have opportunity to coach Teams and run a blitz.
At the end of the course each student will have a IRFU Coaching accreditation on Gainline and this will stay with them for along as they want. Gainline will give them access to their accreditation, rugby games content and videos of different games.
We can adapt the course to suit the audience, we find different audiences respond in different ways.
The course is great fun we will try to work it so they do a theory module and then we will do a practical part to keep the students active and engaged.
Let me know what you think and if your school has interest, we can set up a meeting to discuss further.
I have attached link to recent course we ran in Mount Mercy Girls Secondary School, none of the students who took part play rugby and the feedback we got after was really good.
