TY Spanish Trip - Day 2

Probamos paella y mariscos. Jugamos juegos de de mesa juntos antes de acostarnos.

¡Lo pasamos fenomenal!

1st Years Make St. Brigid's Day Crosses

February 1st marks St Brigid's Day and some of our first year groups were busy making St Brigid's Day crosses for our Sacred Space.

Traditionally St Brigid's Day marks the end of the darkness of winter and ushers in the new season of growth and hope that arrives with the coming of Spring.

St Brigid's crosses were traditionally hung over doorways to protect a home from hunger, fire and evil.

Many thanks to the students who have been busy picking rushes over the last few days.

St Brigid's Cross

Well done to Ignatas, 1B, who used his digital and creative skills to draw and colour this St. Brigid's Day Cross today.

He used the Paint3D app on his device to make it.

TY Students Bake for Red Cross Senior Citizen Party

4th year Home Economics students put their skills to very good use this week, baking some delicious treats and giving back to our community.

They received a request to provide some homemade goods for the Senior Citizens Afternoon Tea Party from the Irish Red Cross.

SCS have worked with the local branch of the Red Cross before and were happy to help on this occasion as well.

We hope the event will be a huge success.

Well done our 4th year students for their contribution.

Green Schools & Drama Club Party

The Green-Schools and the Drama Club had a great time at a joint Christmas party this year, with pizza, fizzy drinks and chocolate galore.

Mr.  O'Mahony and Ms. Belton attended.

Mr. O'Mahony had a very difficult decision to make as he was called upon to judge the Green-Schools School Logo and Slogan competition.

Ms Belton presented the Christmas hamper prize to the winning entry from Alicija Sparazynska (4th Year) for her winning logo depicting a bee on a school crest and her accompanying slogan:

We work for the bees. The  school is working on the Biodiversity theme for their 4th Green-school flag and bees are part of the biodiversity on which we all depend for our survival.
