A group of 5th years headed to the beautiful Gougane Barra today.
They had a fantastic day taking in the breath taking scenery and had some well earned downtime enjoying some self reflection and team bonding.
Many thanks to the accompanying staff and to the students for their great behaviour.
An enjoyable day all round!
Pictured here are second years looking at the wildflower seeds on sale in memory of Maya Grace Harnedy who sadly passed away recently. Maya Grace loved looking at colourful wild flowers and in particular she enjoyed spending time in colourful gardens that were full bloom.
They are also raising funds for CDKL5 and the Little Haven Playschool where she attended. It is hoped that people will purchase these flowers and plant them in different places.
Pictures of our TY Spanish students enjoying themselves in Spain.
On Monday the 24th of April, 1st and 2nd Year girls took part in a Camogie blitz to promote the game amongst West Cork Schools.
Many thanks to Tony Coppinger, Mark and Mary of the Carbery board who organised the event and also thanks to O’Donovan Rossa for the facilities.
Thanks also to the girls coach and mentor Ms. Dullea.
Great fun was had by all!
A TY group joined by a number of 5th and 6th year students successfully completed their Solas Certified Safe Pass.
This ticket will allow them to work on construction sites safely for a 4 year period getting students interested in apprenticeship, onto the training ladder and ready for summer job employment in an industry badly in need of new recruits.
Our final Oceans Plastics Project Beach Clean-up took place on a cold and wet Thursday 23 March. The hardy TY students, along with Mr Rory Jackson and Mr Mannion, braved the elements and collected bags of plastic waste from the Tragumna area.
We would like take this opportunity to sincerely thank Mr Rory Jackson for all his encouragement and support this year. He has involved Skibbereen Community School students in the Oceans Plastic Project over a number of years and he also liaised with Cycle Sense Skibbereen to run the bike upcycling workshops for TY students.
Many thanks also to the Cycle Sense Team, Ms Burchill, Mr Uhl, Mr Mannion, Mr Damien Long and the Cork Co. Council litter collection team for organising and facilitating this series of beach and estuary clean ups.
Pictured below are our TY French students at ‘Le Musée Du Louvre’ where they saw the Mona Lisa (La Joconde) by the Italian artist Leonardo da Vinci & the Venus de Milo.
