4th Years help Skibbereen Tidy Towns

On Thursday the 26th of January three of our 4th year classes went down town to help our community by picking up litter behind the Eldon and in other areas of the town .

Our students believe that it is important to give back to the community and they also want to help Skibbereen tidy towns achieve their goals and make the town a better place for everyone.

The students managed to collect several bags of litter and will hope to continue this good work in the future

4th Years Help Out in the Community

4th year students Bláthín Barry, Stephen Kingston, Christina Hurley, Sophia Kate leahy, Daniel Hurley, Ryan Scully and Chloe McCarthy went to Baltimore road nursing home recently to play Bingo with the residents.

Both students and residents really enjoyed this experience and our students brought great joy to the residents.

Cara House

SCS are delighted to say 2023 started off with a bang with Cara House.

When our students went in, they were introduced to Áine Minihane who was very helpful and welcoming to them as always.

They went around serving teas, coffees, and scones to the different tables and chatted with the elderly people as well. Next, they were sent off to collect messages for them, which they really enjoyed as they felt they were helping to give back to the community in a small way, but it means a lot to all the elderly people.

At 1 o'clock they served everyone their soup and dinner, followed by cake to celebrate one member of Cara House Luncheon Club's 80th Birthday. They lit candles on the cake and sang a big happy birthday!

Even though they were only there for two and a half hours, they all thoroughly enjoyed the experience, everybody was so lovely.

They would all like to volunteer like this on a regular basis as they feel small things like these can make a huge difference to the members of Cara House Luncheon Club. They felt that they learned loads from this experience.
