Pictured below is the ‘Walk on Wednesday Grouo ‘ this week.
On a very wet Monday, May 9th, our 4th year Food & Hospitality students headed off on their end of year trip with Ms. McCarthy & Ms. Roberts.
They were accompanied by students from our LRC Level 1 ‘Food Glorious Food Module’ and 2nd year ‘Life skills’ students.
First stop was at ‘Macroom Buffalo Mozzarella Farm’ for a guided tour and food tasting. Dorothy O’Tuama, from Lee Valley Taste Tours gave students a tour of the farm, where students saw new born baby buffalo, the milking parlour and the main herd in the fields. There was an informative presentation on the background story to the farm and the cheesemaking process. Students got to taste some of the delicious cheese products and buffalo burgers.
Despite the rain, we all departed with smiles on our faces before heading to the city to visit a relatively new venture ‘The Marina Market’. This was a big hit with our students who just a few months ago were food entrepreneurs themselves. They really enjoyed browsing the stalls and choosing from the amazing range of lunch options on offer. Everyone agreed they would return again.
Well done to all the students who came on the trip, a really great day out!
Pictured below are those that took part in the ‘Walk on Wednesday’ initiative this week.
Our aim is to try to cut down on car engine emissions and raise awareness of environmental issues.
The Green Schools Committee are currently collecting data on how many people drive or walk to school on Wednesdays.
