CAO Virtual Information Evening

Tuesday, 19 October 2021 from 7pm - 8.15pm

An information evening for students, parents and guardians in association with CAO, the Institute of Guidance Counsellors and the National Parents Council post-primary.

The evening's agenda will include presentations from representatives of CAO, IGC and the National Parents Council post-primary. The evening will conclude with an FAQ session where some of the common queries received by all three organisations will be highlighted.

All-Ireland Winners at Skibbereen Community School

Well done to Skibbereen Community School students who were worthy winners of the All-Ireland Girls U14 Gaelic Football Community Games Competition today in UL, Limerick.

November Exams for 3rd and 6th Years start on November 4th.

November Exams for 6th and 3rd Years will run from November 4th to 12th. 6th Year Exam Papers will be 2 hours in duration. 3rd Year Exam Papers will be 1 1/2 Hours in duration. Exams will be held in the Sports Hall on alternate days for each year group.

Le Petit Déjeuner - French Breakfast

1st year & TY French students enjoying a French Breakfast with their teacher Mr. Lynch.

“Le petit déjeuner” is the French for breakfast and this is often shortened down to “le petit déj” among the French!

4th Year Agricultural Science Trip

Our 4th year Agricultural Science students visited Buckley’s farm in Castlehaven today.

Thanks to James Buckley (4th year) for giving us an informative talk on his family’s dairy farm.

TY mentors enjoyed a trip to Lough Hyne with their first year groups as part of the school’s induction programme. It was a great Team Building Day and we were very lucky with the fabulous weather!

Well Done to SCS Students at the All-Ireland Community Games Athletics Finals

Well done to our three second year students who participated in the All-Ireland  Athletics Community Games competition in Carlow at the weekend. All three students finished in the top five in their respective competitions.

With four medals up for grabs in each event, Diana Coakley just missed a podium place, finishing 5th in the U14 Javelin. Caoimhe Flannery was in a photo finish, for 4th place and a place on the podium in the U16 1500m and Katie Kingston's series of superb throws earned her a 2nd place finish in the discus.

Best of Luck to SCS 2nd Year Students Representing Cork at the Aldi All-Ireland Community Games

Best of luck to our three 2nd year students representing Cork in the Aldi All-Ireland Community Games next weekend in Co. Carlow; (Katie - discus, Diana - javelin & Caoimhe - 1500M).

SCS Students Shine at South Munster Schools Athletics Track & Field Championships

Well done to our four SCS second year students who represented the school at the South Munster Schools Athletics Track and Field Championships last Friday. They performed superbly and all four returned home with medals in the Junior (u15), category.

Katie Kingston and Caoimhe Flannery became the first students from SCS to win a title at the South Munsters; Katie in the field events (1st in Javelin and Discus) and Caoimhe on the track (1st in 1500m).

Diana Coakley was 2nd in both the shot and discus and Ciara Delaney 3rd in the 1500m.

South Munster Schools 2020/2021 Track & Field Championships

The South Munster schools track and field Championships will take place next Friday afternoon at MTU. This event is delayed from 2020 and is open to all students from 2nd year upwards, who are born within the dates outlined in the link below.
