Forty two music students from Skibbereen Community School attended a workshop on Javanese Gamelan Orchestra at the Cope centre on Monday the 10th October. Thanks to their teacher Ms. Colette Brennan for accompanying them.
Thanks to Mark Keohane, Sean Finn Gallagher, Kate O'Connell, Samirah Hanrahan Thomas, Jordan O'Donovan and Alan McCarthy who represented Skibbereen Community School at the launch of The eStreet Initiative by the Ludgate Hub. This is a project to encourage internet trading by 11 local small businesses.

The Senior Ladies Football Team played their first match for the school on Friday October 7th in Ahamilla, Clonakilty. They did us proud with a win over Sacred Heart Secondary School Clonakilty. Well done to the entire panel and their coaches, Mr. Hayes and Mr. Harrington.

The school celebrated its first start of year mass in St. Patrick's Cathedral on Wednesday morning last the 5th October. This was a student led ceremony with the choir, readers and gift givers playing their part. They were excellent. In fact all students present showed tremendous respect. Many thanks to Fr. Chris O'Donovan for his uplifting ceremony and to Ms. Brennan and Ms. O'Brien for organising the event. Thanks to all the teachers for escorting the students down. Thanks to the caretakers for transporting the equipment and Dave Long Coaches for the transport.
Transition Year students travelled to Kilfinane Outdoor Education Centre in Co. Limerick recently. It was an action-packed three day trip and a great time was had by all.
The chess club runs every Tuesday and Thursday at lunchtime in Room F01. Thanks to Tobias and Mandy in the School Completion Programme for organising.
Well done to the Senior Football Team who beat Clonakilty Community College in a challenge match in Ahamilla today. They won by 4 points and much was learned before they face their first Munster Championship match in two weeks.
Well done to the Athletics team who took part in their first West Cork School's Cross Country Championships which were held in Dunmanway on Tuesday, Sept 27th. The team included First Years; Shane Casey, Oisin Daly, Brian McCarthy, Sean Twomey, Cathal O'Donovan, Isaac Harte, Sean Browne and Molly O'Neill. Second Years included; Kevin McCarthy, Colm Crowley, Robbie McCarthy, Brian Stoutt and Emily Sweeney. The two third Years were Matthew Crowley and Donnchadh O'Donovan. Molly O'Neill came 2nd and Emily Sweeney came 6th. Well done Girls! Brian Stoutt came 14th and Isaac Harte came 16th. Well done Lads!
