Bonjour de Paris! Day 2:
Today the morning kicked off with shopping and a stroll down the world famous Avenue des Champs-Élysées.
We then climbed the 284 steps to get to the top of the Arc de Triomphe where we got an unspoilt view of the city of Paris. We also got to see the tomb of the unknown soldier. The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier holds an unidentified member of the French armed forces killed during the First World War, to symbolically commemorate all soldiers who have died for France throughout history.
We then walked to The Flame of Liberty (Flamme de la Liberté) in Paris is a full-sized, gold-leaf-covered replica of the new flame at the upper end of the torch carried in the hand of the Statue of Liberty at the entrance to the harbor of New York City since 1986. It is located near the northern end of the Pont de l'Alma. The statue has also become an unofficial place of pilgrimage as a mark of respect for the late Lady Diana.
We then took full advantage of the fine weather and proceeded to visit La Trocadéro where students got to enjoy stunning views of the Eiffel Tower.
Next up was the long anticipated climb of the Eiffel Tower « La Tour Eiffel » . Many students also seized the opportunity to make the most of the new tourist attraction on the Eiffel Tower (a suspended bridge between the monument’s east and west pillars, the Vertige de la Tour bridge offers an aerial crossing of about 40 meters at nearly 60 meters above the ground).
Finally, we got on the famous Bateaux Mouches cruise on the river Seine where we got the see glimpses of the many famous landmarks of Paris such as Louvre and the Conciergerie where Marie-Antoinette was imprisoned.
