Bonjour de Paris!

A group of 26 of our 4th & 5th year students, accompanied by their teachers (Ms G. O’Farrell, Ms. D. Hennigan & Mr P. Lynch), set off on an exciting school tour yesterday morning.

We departed from Cork Airport at half past seven in the morning bound for Paris Beauvais Airport.

After landing, a bus took us into the bustling city centre and we made our way to the charming district of Montmartre. There, we explored its iconic sights, including the Moulin Rouge, the Sacré-Cœur Cathedral and the lively Place du Tertre, where artists could be seen painting and selling their work. The group also visited the small vineyard nestled in Montmartre known as Les Vignes du Clos de Montmartre and admired the famous pink-fronted house, La Maison Rose.

Afterwards, they spent some time browsing the local souvenir shops before hopping on the French metro (An experience in itself).

The day continued with a visit to the renowned Notre Dame Cathedral, recently restored following a devastating fire, where they were able to admire its impressive architecture and beautiful stained-glass windows. The three iconic 13th-century rose windows of Notre-Dame de Paris are masterpieces of Gothic art, where the largest measure nearly 13 meters in diameter.
