Thank you to Adam and Ruth from Field's SuperValu, Skibbereen for visiting the LCA2 class yesterday afternoon. This was an insightful talk on the running of their business.
Fields have a passion for good food – a passion that goes back to the day in 1935 when Jack Field first opened the doors in Main Street, Skibbereen. You are guaranteed to find a dazzling array of food items in their shop at great prices including the best local produce and freshly baked breads/cakes/pastries from their own bakery.
Topics covered were layout of shop floor, distinguishing between different types of display and identifying the specific areas within a retail unit for display. They also discussed effective merchandising and methods of promotion within their shop and the importance of good atmosphere (music, furnishing & flooring) in the shop. They explained the role of advertising, the media and outside advertising and the importance of it.
We are very grateful to Adam and Ruth for giving up their time to come visit us and for the invaluable information they gave us. We wish them continued success with their business.
